The Passport 1424T Routing Switch from Nortel Networks is a fixed port layer three device that combines network core routing features with wiring closet type efficiency. It features 24 10/100 Ethernet ports and 2 GBIC slots that provide connectivity for workgroups, servers and switches in a 1U high design. Its wire-speed routing and a non-blocking architecture provide core routing type performance for bandwidth-sensitive applications. In addition, Quality of Service (QoS) and hardware-based routing help decrease network latency and jitter. The switch provides increased application performance by enabling better bandwidth utilization and enhancing network performance.
